On restart I click Firefox on the launcher and it comes back with the message Server Not Found Firefox can't find the server at This is brand new install what's seems to be the problem? I now have noway back to the server to edit!

how does the computer connect to the internet ? is the static ip set correctly including gateway adress ? are the nameservers entered correctly ? – xyious Aug 10 '12 at 11:54
The server is connected via a patch switch to a router (BT) I can get on line via my laptop. What are name servers? Static is set as;Adress 192.168.x.xx netmask broadcast and gateway I can also get to webmin from my laptop (wireless) – Bill Aug 10 '12 at 12:38
not entirely sure if it's the right way but i put them into /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base .... i just add nameserver can just do that and see if everything works. – xyious Aug 10 '12 at 12:51
There is nothing else connected, my laptop is wireless. Besides, I can no longer access my server to input. – Bill Aug 10 '12 at 13:06

After adding the static IP, did you set also the Gateway(router) IP? If not do, it. Probably you may also need to set the DNS addresses.

@obsessivefoss,I can no longer access my server to do this. – Bill Aug 10 '12 at 13:58
@Bill Is network access not working, or do you just no longer have it? – hexafraction Aug 10 '12 at 13:59
@obsessiveFossI have network in the launch pad but, all I can get up is wired or network proxy. In wired it only has a 'options' box greyed out.Not poosible to edit – Bill Aug 10 '12 at 14:01
