I have installed Ubuntu 12-04 in an Acer Aspire 5315. I am trying to set it up to print to a Canon Pixma iP4200 through a Windows 7, 64-bit desktop. The printer driver seemed to install easily in Ubuntu, and almost works. A test page going via the desktop will start up the printer, do all the preparation noises and movements, and then hang. The text itself seems to get lost somewhere in the Windows 7 environment. The printer hangs so well as to require unplugging the electrical connection to get it back to normal, and then only sometimes. I would appreciate any help here.

Is your Ubuntu machine 32-bit or 64-bit? Anyway, try out the instructions here and see if they help you.. Keep in mind, though, that the latest edit dates back to last year. – SirCharlo Aug 9 '12 at 19:32
