I am getting a failed to download some index files error with sudo apt-get update.

I tried to change multiple mirrors also.

I am using VirtualBox with Ubuntu Server 12.04 i386 version over a wireless network.

Please kindly help me out.

Which server are you using? The main server for germany has some issues like this. Try to change the server to the main ubuntu server (in the settings of Software Center / Update Manager) – jP_wanN Aug 9 '12 at 11:47
I am using the us.archive.ubuntu.com server for update manager. – ganeshkanawade Aug 9 '12 at 12:30
Can you please edit your post to include the entire output of sudo apt-get update? Also, are you certain that your virtual machine has Internet connectivity? (A quick test with Firefox would suffice.) – mac9416 Aug 9 '12 at 16:45
