Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've recently started using 12.04 and totally impressed by it. I've forgot Windows after coming into Ubuntu's family, keep up the great work guys!

Just one small problem here, I've set the display resolution by going to display setting's and it worked great, but the display resolution isn't changed for the boot and the log in screen. During that, the resolution turns back into weird big one, but after logging in, it goes to normal that I set.

Can you guys please tell me of a solution to my this problem?

Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! This site works best when there is only one question per question. Since your two questions are mostly unrelated, it would be best for you to post a second, new question asking about the power outage problem. (After you post the new question, you can go ahead and edit this question, including its title, so this question is only about the original issue--the resolution for the login screen.) – Eliah Kagan Aug 9 '12 at 6:08
If there is nothing going on on your computer, it is unlikely that a forced-shutdown will damage a whole computer, because Linux(the underlying stuff under Ubuntu) will repair itself in 10-30 reboots. But if Ubuntu is updating, a forced-Shutdown can damage a system heavily because Ubuntu is very vulnerable when updating. – Emerson Hsieh Aug 10 '12 at 12:52
Thanks for providing . I just followed the answer number #1 and edited the post so the question u answered is transferred to another one, but thanks! :) So the first question is still unanswered and waiting for an answer :) – Asmar Amjad Aug 10 '12 at 13:56
