How do I reset my Unity configuration?

My husband's computer is set up with 3 accounts, his, mine and a guest account. The grandkids were on his account and did something. Now, when he logs into Unity, he has no system tray or launcher. It says it can't find the system tray. If he logs in under Unity 2 D, they are there. My account and the guest account are fine.

I have no idea how to fix it. Any ideas? I can't open anything unless I right click the desktop(system programs). I'm not sure how to open any other programs or the terminal. Can anybody help?

Whoa, do we need to hit it with the --reset hammer first? – Jorge Castro Aug 8 '12 at 22:15
