I would like to use the HDD (i.e. SSD) password feature offered by my Dell Latitude D620 BIOS. Unlocking my SSD works as expected on startup (via a BIOS unlock screen) but it fails while resuming from Suspend-to-RAM (through xfce4-power-manager). For comparison: On Windows 7, the system presents me that same BIOS unlock screen after waking up from standby and everything is fine. On Ubuntu however this screen doesn't show up and I can't unlock my screen-saver anymore (most likely because it can't access the file system). I can switch to a VT displaying kernel messages, though. Those messages indicate that the SSD does not react to ATA commands. It seems, that Windows magically knows how to call some kind of BIOS hook after resuming while Linux does not. Is there a way to work around this?
I admit this is a tough one and I'm wondering where I should start looking for answers. libata maintainers? The ACPI folks? Some other subsystem developer groups? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
