I have bought a Dlink dwa 123 wifi dongle. I am trying to get it working on ubuntu. So I did some research and realised it used the rt2800usb module whcih was available in ubuntu by default. So I did a
modprobe rt2800usb. But it simply refuses to recognize the device. My dmesg is as follows and there is no wlan0.

So then I installed the module from linuxwireless.org and ran the script to install rt2800 module and then when I did a modprobe it all works fine. But now I am unable to do the same thing on a beaglebone as I have to install the entire linux source(as the linux wireless requires it.) I wanted to know if there is another way of making the default rt2800 driver work?
