Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

After upgrading from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04, the sound indicator applet disappeared from my top menu bar in GNOME Classic. It's still there if I log in with Unity, and I have the latest version of the package indicator-sound.

I'm ok with resetting all desktop settings, if that's necessary. I just don't know which files to remove.
