I am dual booting my computer with OS X and Ubuntu 12.04. Both operating systems are on different hard drives. OS X is on my primary hard drive along with chimera boot loader (My computer is a hackintosh, not an apple computer). I have Ubuntu installed on my second internal hard drive with Grub installed to the same partition as Ubuntu, rather than the MBR (this is the only way to get Chimera to recognize the drive).
When I select Ubuntu from the chimera menu, Grub loads up and it begins to count down from 10 (as it should). However, if I do not manually select Ubuntu, the screen slightly flickers and goes dark (This usually occurs after 3-5 seconds of Grub's countdown). I am then met by the BIOS screen, followed by Chimera. This process repeats if I continue to select Ubuntu's partition from Chimera.
It seems to me that this is a problem with Grub, rather than Chimera or my install setup. If I quickly press enter before Grub flickers and restarts my computer, Ubuntu boots without a problem. I have tried drs305's solution to what appears to be a similar problem in this thread, but it has not solved the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix Grub and stop it from rebooting my computer before it finishes counting down?
Here is some relevant information about my hardware if it helps anyone:
CPU: Intel i3 2105 with Intel HD 3000 graphics
Mother Board: Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3
