Yesterday, I installed some updates on Ubuntu 12.04 and I restarted my computer. Ever since then I've been unable to use my DSL wired connection.

I have Windows 7 installed along side Ubuntu, on Windows 7 I can use my DSL connection as normal. The problem occurred after the update; The wired tab was completely empty. If I try to edit it, it shows an error, "no connection available."

Please help, I'm new to Ubuntu.

Why are you looking on the wired tab, shouldn't it be on the DSL tab? – njallam Aug 2 '12 at 17:41
You may have to reconfigure your DSL settings there. – njallam Aug 2 '12 at 17:46
As for the error, please tell me some more instructions about how you caused the error. – njallam Aug 2 '12 at 17:49
@njallam Many users get DSL through a modem that uses ethernet for the local link to the computer. I've used DSL like this before my internet upgrade. – ObsessiveSSOℲ Aug 2 '12 at 17:50
@ObsessiveFOSS I've only used a DSL line that goes through the USB port. Thanks for that information. – njallam Aug 2 '12 at 17:51
