Beware even though it is officially released it didn't sit well on my system. Certain packages were removed for no reason like Akregator and Muon. And the System Appearance option kept crashing. I tried to PPA Purge and it ruined my system. So backup your system before doing this. – z1lt0id Aug 2 '12 at 23:03
Although System Appearence crashes, one can still change the wallpaper by right-clicking on it and choosing Desktop Settings. – Adobe Aug 4 '12 at 8:14
Have you installed KDE 4.9? If so, what you think about it? – Optimus Prime Oct 5 '12 at 8:30

KDE 4.9 is available in the Backports PPA from Kubuntu!

This is the "official" Kubuntu Team PPA.

To install/upgrade, open a terminal and:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports -y
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
