I have installed ubuntu 12.04.
So, i don't remember very well what i did to make my flash usb, unwritable. Anyways it happened after i have installed gnome shell, and now i don't know how to uninstall it I tried ...sudo purge gnome-* or something similar, but I still can see gnome at log-in screen. Or (because the pc's power supply went bad when the key was plugged in), but I doubt that because in windows works very well.
However, in windows works everything ok, chkdsk says it's everything in order. In windows I can access / modify / copy / whatever in ubuntu 12.04 it doesn't work anymore, I mean I see the files, but I cant copy them, I can create some files in the root only, and I can't delete anything.
I tried, with the disk utility preinstalled program to check the file system, everything in order, just like in windows, no bad/damaged files. I tried to take ownership in this ways: right click -> proprieties (on my flash usb) and permissions > give myself permission. it didn't work, it said something like ... (X) ... read only ... then I tried:
cd /media/my_external_drive sudo chmod -R 777 * inserted admin password ... worked sudo chown -R your_username:your_username * exit
But that did't work either... What can I do ? I bet that if I reinstall the whole system it will work, but I think it's not worthy reformatting just for some permissions.
