I ran apt-get purge. Since then, when I want to add a repository, I get an error. Sometimes Ubuntu shows an error and says that add-apt-repository has closed unexpectedly.

This error appears when in the Terminal:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 125, in <module>
    ppa_info = get_ppa_info_from_lp(user, ppa_name)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/softwareproperties/", line 80, in get_ppa_info_from_lp
pycurl.error: (7, "couldn't connect to host")

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Are you connected to the Internet when this happens? Are you using a proxy server? – Eliah Kagan Jul 28 '12 at 17:59
Yes ,I'm connect. I'm not using any proxy. – user79906 Jul 29 '12 at 5:27

Just now corrected this error on my pc. Open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run:

sudo update-ca-certificates

This will fix it.
