I maximized a window; now I can't see the close, minimize, and maximize buttons! I can't even grab the window to move it! How do I fix this? Is there a bug fix available? When will this be fixed?

This was a huge annoyance for me and, for a long time, negatively impacted my experience with Unity (and, consequently, Ubuntu). While I can't speak about bug fixes, I stumbled upon an impromptu "solution" to the issue a while back. Hit Ctrl+Super+Up. (Super is the Windows key on a lot of keyboards). This will properly maximize your window and allow you to see the window handle and window buttons again.

You can also hold down the alt-key while left clicking to drag a window... that will usually unmaximize a maximized window – Ian B. Jul 27 '12 at 17:36

I rarely go all the way up to click on the buttons. Alt+spacebar followed by n (minimize), x (maximize), or c (close) suffice. – vasa1 Jul 27 '12 at 17:47
