Hi I just accidentally ruined my other Toshiba laptop by using bleach on the computer screen. Anyway, I took out the harddrive and I have the passkey, but I'm unsure of how to do this. For some reason if I have the new harddrive in a different slot on my older laptop, internet and everything else seems to run incredibly slow. Probably due to the fact that it wants to recognize the other computer still. I understand this. If it's in the other slot, being the slave to the original harddrive I have in the older computer, it works fine and I can just access the files.

Please help. I wrote everything down when Ubuntu initially asked if I wanted to encrypt the drive or not, but all I have is the key and this:

ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase

Thanks!

Is the passkey showing up immediately when you fire up the computer? And are you using that HDD in a different computer? – Matthew Kaulfers Jul 24 '12 at 23:08
