I am trying to setup SMTP Auth on Postfix SASL ubuntu 12.04 server, Postfix runs perfectly I just cannot get the SMTP auth to work, heres my config below.

When I try and authenticate via telnet I get an error: 435 Unable to authenticate at present

No matter what I try I cannot get this error to go away.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you install dovecot? You will find relevant information in the mail log files (mail.err or mail.log in /var/log/). Please attach the relevant lines. –  Calimo Sep 12 '12 at 15:34
Turns out I was blocked in the firewall, once I opened up all the relevant ports I found SMTP Auth to be working perfectly. Thanks for your comments. –  Grant Sep 18 '12 at 11:40
