when I hook my laptop to the TV using an HD cable, sound comes from both the TV and my laptop. I set sound output to HDMI/DisplayPort, what could be the problem?

Also - I'd love it if my desktop would automatically be extended to the TV when I hook my computer, just like it is on windows. Anyway I can do it?
