I was updating my Ubuntu 11.10, it was stuck halfway saying

Failed to download package files
Check your Internet connection.

Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/f/firefox/firefox-globalmenu_13.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1_amd64.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.181 80]

I have tried changing download server to Main Server and couple of other servers nearly, no avail.

The reason is, there is no such file on the server. Try sudo apt-get update and then try again? – jokerdino Jul 20 '12 at 6:25
try sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade , check your connection. – tijybba Jul 20 '12 at 6:28
hmm that's weird. most of the updates worked. Like 170MB/211MB was downloaded. The error occured when update hits FF. – Nishant Jul 20 '12 at 6:29
