I have downloaded a movie from the internet in Ubuntu using deluge and then saved a copy of that movie in windows drive. The copy seemed perfect from Ubuntu. But strangely, when I logged into Windows I was stunned to see that the file was no more.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong? How to solve the problem? The same problem happened for some other files two.

The partition we are talking about is formatted to NTFS? No encryption is applied to this partition? – Cumulus007 Jul 17 '12 at 5:43

Through Ubuntu , Confirm they are stored in Windows partition , and not in Ubuntu Downloads folder. Windows cannot access the ext4 partition out-of-the-box. – tijybba Jul 17 '12 at 6:29
Are you sure you placed in in the proper windows folder? Windows paths looking from Ubuntu can be a bit confusing. SAy you want to place the file on the desktop you should go to <win drive partition>/Users/<your username>/Desktop. if you have already done something like this then please ignore. – Ashu Jul 17 '12 at 6:40
In addition to the other comments here (moving the file to an easily accessible location) here: 1. If you now try to reopen the file in Ubuntu, is it still there and readable? 2. Is it reproducible? What happens if you try again (you mentioned you placed a copy there), or place a dummy file, e.g. a dummy.txt file there? 3. Did you perhaps give the movie a very long name, or a name with special characters? I know Windows doesn't like that, though I wouldn't expect it to just hide that file then. – Tomas Jul 17 '12 at 7:13
