Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome fallback.

I have a simple xgamma.sh startup script to change screen gamma on log-in. It works fine only if it is the ONLY startup script in the box that comes up when you click "startup applications". When any more startup entries are put in the box, the gamma goes where I set it at gamma 0.7 for a micro-second, then reverts to the default of gamma 1.0 (washed out on my system). I gave the script the name of xgamma which is at the end of the alphabet in case the system is running them sequentially by filename, but that was no help. I never had this problem with Ubuntu 10.04, so is this a bug?
