I was trying to play Portal 2 for the first time, and steam told me my video card driver was out of date. It sent me a link to the Nvidia website, from which I downloaded the newest driver, version 301.42. While I was installing it, i got this error message:

An Error has occurred with the script on this page. Line:19 Char:13 Error:Permission denied Code:0 URL:http://www.google-analytics.com/ga.js Would you like to continue running scripts on this page?

I hit yes and finished the installation. It asked me to restart my computer, and I did. However, while it was starting up, it ran a check disk, but the check would never finish, it just would say it was done, even though it wasn't, and it would restart the computer. Then it would just repeat the process all over again. So I skipped the check disk, and now I find that the video driver didn't install properly. According to my computer there is no video driver installed. Help?

Linux does not have a nvidia driver, version 301.42. Checkdisk, the error messages, .. it sounds really like a Windows issue. That's off-topic here and more suitable for superuser.com – Lekensteyn Jul 13 '12 at 12:41
