So I just loaded up Ubuntu 12.04 on an older PC that I am planning on using for some programming ventures, and to just get use to Linux after many years on Windows.

So my issue is that even though I have downloaded, and installed GNOME, and lxde; once I restart and choose to load lxde before log-in it stays with the Default Desktop Environment. My Google-Fu has not turned up anything of use so far.
