I had installed Ubuntu 11.04 via Wubi in my Windows 7. I have a DSL conncetion in which I have to give a username and pwd given by my ISP in the edit connections. Recently I chose to upgrade to ubuntu 11.10 and then on ubuntu 12.04.

I am able to connect to my connection but I am not able to surf on my browser. But when I am able to connect and use the internet in my Windows 7. My connection loads the driver r8169.

I have Toshiba satellite L505-10X laptop. I had the same problem in Ubuntu 11.10 few months earlier but back then I chose to switch back to Ubuntu 11.04.

I was looking online for answers and i had read that it loads the r8169 driver instead of r8168 and that could be a problem. So I did try to solve the issue with those answers but it didn't work.

I am not an expert in ubuntu/linux so I don't know what the problem is. Please help if anyone ever faced the same problem and has solved it.

I have installed a 64-bit version of ubuntu 12.04 – MaxSteel Jul 12 '12 at 10:55
Do you see any error message when you try to browse the web? Try to go to google.com and leave the error code For example, in Google Chrome you can get: Error 106 (net::ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED) at the bottom of the page. And one more question, are you using WiFi or are you connecting to the internet by an Ethernet cable? – Adrià Vilanova Jul 12 '12 at 12:31
