After upgrading to latest Ubuntu with Unity-2d I find the terminal windows are always in the foreground. They cover everything even when not in focus - other applications, menus, alt-tab dialog, etc.

The only way to see applications in the background are to get the terminal window focus and minimize or close it.

How can I prevent the terminal windows covering these other applications?

Right click the title bar of the window (with the buttons on it). There should be an option along the lines of "always below" that you can check.

unfortunately that option doesn't exist in my version – Richard Jul 12 '12 at 14:58
