This shows up in the System Settings tool, Displays. It shows the computer as being a Laptop and does not identify the monitor, nor does it allow you to make any changes. As well, when viewing the DETAILS/GRAPHICS it indicates that the Graphic Driver is Unknown. However, when using the Additional Drivers, it shows the proper driver for the video card (in my case, the Nvidia drivers) is installed. If I do a video greb in terminal, I get the proper video card ident. As well, if I run nVidia-settings, I get all the correct information. But, any software I run that requires the GPU does not work as Ubuntu does not show or know it has an installed graphic card. When I ran Ubuntu 12.04 from the CD in Demo mode, it recognized my graphic card and monitor correctly. When I installed it, Ubuntu thinks my PC is a Laptop
