I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and plugged in my ethernet cable but I cannot connect to the internet. I check with ifconfig and I do have an IP address. Can someone help?

Please edit your answer to include the output of ifconfig. – SirCharlo Jul 6 '12 at 19:22
Please also include the output of sudo lshw -C network, and tell us the make and model of your computer. If you know how, see if you can connect to your router's setup page (and let us know that as well). – Eliah Kagan Jul 6 '12 at 19:57
