I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in my computer without problems, but after rebooting i got the following error:

Error: No such partition
grub rescue>

I am a novice with ubuntu and any detailed instructions to the problem will be highly appreciated.

I ran boot repair as per the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair
boot-repair

It did not work: I received the same GRUB rescue error.

From boot-repair I received the following log.

To give some more information: I had Ubunntu previously installed and it worked fine. On the first installation I did not know how the partitioning works and doing that I made what happenned to be drive C: in windows only 20 gigs. The other partition was not visible in Windows therefore I decided to reformat the drive and reinstalled Windows 7 and Ubuntu. After Ubuntu installation the system cannot boot to either environment. I know how to fix the boot for Windows 7. – Kostas Jun 30 '12 at 23:28

I found the solution to the problem. I just updated my PCs BIOS and it worked like a charm. – Kostas Jul 2 '12 at 13:01
