After editting my etc/default/grub file the file appeared to be empty. My questions are:

  • is this a serious problem because i still can boot and use Ubuntu
  • if yes, can i restore it somehow?

Using Ubuntu 12.04

What kind of editing have you done? –  Mitch Jun 29 '12 at 18:29
Try /etc/default/grub instead. –  mikewhatever Jun 29 '12 at 18:39

Try /etc/default/grub, and watch those forward slashes, they are important.
