Is it possible in Ubuntu to create a script of some sort to run a hook into the volume system, so that when I turn my volume down to 0 (using the convenient keyboard controls), it pauses any media program I have running? (In particular Spotify).

I'm not all that experienced with tweaking with Ubuntu so I haven't really got anything to start with...
