The problem is when I switched on my laptop a power failure occurred, and because my battery is dead my laptop turned off while it was booting. After that when I was attempting to start it the following mes showed:

mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory

mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory

Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init.

No init found. Try passing init = bootarg.

BusyBox v1.15.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.15.3-1ubuntu5) buildt-in shell (ash)

Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands

(initramfs)_

And now I can't even boot from a live CD because my CD drive is not working.

I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 through a USB device but its not booting and same initramfs are showing, and I have no other alternate OS installed in my laptop, only Ubuntu 10.04 is running, I don't want to lose my data so I was really trying hard to resolve my problem so,please any one may assist me....

Could you check your BIOS to see if boot from USB is enabled? – Tinellus Jun 27 '12 at 12:32
