Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I like using Ubuntu in English, especially in terminal and Dash. While using english in Dash, searching applications is quite easy. Is there any way to set the Language of the name of the applications while keeping the other part in another language, say Chinese? So that I only have to use English in the launcher while my system language is Chinese.

If I set the system Language to English, I was not able to set ibus as input method, which leads to not being able to input Chinese. Then I have to use chinese for the system desktop, including the dash.
