I have an Emachines W6409 desktop. I just intalled Ubuntu 12.04 the other day and everything seemed to be working fine. I put it in suspend mode and left for the night and when I came back the following day, I could not get it to wake from sleep, so I held down the power button on the tower to turn off computer and now it doesn't even wake my monitor when I start the computer. The monitor turns on if you press it's power button, but doesn't display anything from the pc and eventually times out and goes back to sleep. Please help!!

Have you checked the VGA card and.or the Monitor, and cable? – Mitch Jun 18 '12 at 19:48
How do you check the VGA card? I have unplugged the monitor and tried it with my laptop and it works fine. When I plug it into my desktop and turn it on it flashes "rgb" on the screen and eventually turns off, which is exactly what it does if I turn the screen on with no computer attached. It was working before I put the computer into suspend mode. – jamie Jun 18 '12 at 19:55
It sounds like you have a bad VGA card. You can install it in a different machine and try it. – Mitch Jun 18 '12 at 20:03
It worked perfectly fine before I put it into suspend mode. I've done some googling, it looks like this is a fairly common problem, but I have yet to find a solution... – jamie Jun 19 '12 at 0:05
