I recently bought a secondary battery for my Dell Latitude D620 that fits into the CD drive. There are a couple problems:

First, it drains the secondary battery first. I'm OK with that, but when it switches to the primary battery it still shows the level of the secondary battery on the menu bar at the top. So it looks like I am always out of juice. Is there any way to change that?

Second, (and I suspect that this is more of a hardware issue, though Ubuntu may have an answer), When I plug my laptop in to charge, it charges the primary battery only. The only way to get it to charge the secondary one is to take out the primary one, which is a big hassle. Is there any way to make it charge both at once? (or one right after another).

I wasn't able to find either answer online, so I was hoping the community could help. Thank you for your time.
