After updating ubuntu 11.10 I find that some of the icons on the dash Unity bar have gone transparent and also some icons are missing in the home folder and elsewhere. Also the shutdown/restart icon has gone completely from the top (grey) bar. Although the icons are not displayed it is still possible to access the programs/files. I tried sudo unity --reset-icons but the thing just got stuck in a loop.
