I have installed ubuntu 11.10 on a windows 7 pc alongside windows 7. But after some days it has problem.

I want to re-install it. Do i need to uninstall current ubuntu?

@ vinay - If reinstalling assures you of a more stable environment , definitely go for it. You can totally remove and do a Fresh Install of Ubuntu again .But why don't you try Ubuntu 12.04 LTS release , more stable , reliable, flexible and also more Faster . – atenz Jun 14 '12 at 6:22
thanks for your comment but i want to use it just for learning purpose. so downloading a new 12.04 version will kill my time since internet speed is not so good.However, I've already 11.10 downloaded. – geekhere Jun 14 '12 at 6:41

You can install over the existing install without removing it beforehand.

Start the install, when you reach Allocate Drive Space section choose Something Else.

In the partition window you will see your ntfs partitions and linux ones.

Select the linux partition - pick Change from the options.

Select Ext4 as the Use As - select the format option.

In the mountpoint - select /

Close that window and then carry on.
