After upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 I am unable to increase screen brightness using Fn+up. The system correctly decreases the brightness when working from a battery and puts it back to 100 % when putting back the AC. However if I try to increase the brightness the value from /sys/class/backlight/samsung/brighness would not have any affect.

No. This one would not work. – sergwy Jun 12 '12 at 12:40
you tried those two methods ? – Jai Jun 12 '12 at 13:26
Yes. Brightness controll worked before I updated from 11.10 to 12.04. Without the modifications – sergwy Jun 14 '12 at 14:33
