How do I get a Huwai e1750c 3g modem working?

Question

I'm having a problem with my Huawei c1750 3G modem... I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and when I connect the device it identifies it, but after a couple of seconds the system gives me an error (not specified) and disconnects the 3G connection.
