There are rumors. These rumors claim that there are nerd on this hell of a planet who don't touch a mouse. They are my heroes :D

How can I become such a pro?

(I used to know a site, like stackoverflow, where you could upvote really cool commands, like twittering from terminal etc.)

Becoming a terminal pro includes becoming a pro in shell scripting as well. Start reading the bash manual or if you're using the z shell start reading the zsh manual. – joke Nov 23 '10 at 23:58

Switch to dwm, wmfs, wmii, awesomewm, or xmonad as your window manager for 1 year. This might be easier to do if you are using Archlinux.

From my own experience, two simple advices:

  1. Stick with Linux whatever happens. Just use it for every single computing task.
  2. Use Vim as your only text editor. Vim not Gvim.

There are a couple of really good ways to become a CLI pro. One is install the server edition of Ubuntu and do not install any GUI or desktop environment. The other is to start using a text and command-line only distribution. INX is one such distro. It is excellent for learning command-line usage. Please take a look at http://inx.maincontent.net/ .

I would highly recommend CLI companion terminal. It has a highly accessible, editable lookup table that contains commandline commands and their description.

Perfect for those just starting and those rarely used commands.

I agree with charlie-tca, ditch the GUI. Of course, some of us are old pros from the pre-historic days of Linux where you HAD to know c-li b/c we had to download our own programs and compile them, including desktops!

lynx and B*tchX baby! and a good friend who you can call on the phone to ask for help. ncurses installs of the OS! Slackware was my first exposure to c-li keyboard KungFu.
