I run 12.04 LTS on a virtualbox image. I use LUKS and LVM for whole disk encryption.

After installing recent kernel updates, my system no longer boots. It says: "cryptsetup: evms_activate is not available" when it would normally ask for passphrase.

If I boot the previous kernel, I do not get this error.

Is this a bug in the new kernel package?

How do I fix this, so I can boot my system?

It seems to be a bug as reported here: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/957602 – jasmines May 22 '12 at 11:22
Why is this off topic? This is a problem that I experience in a recently installed Ubuntu 12.04, and I am seeking help to fix it. I do not think this problem is the same as described in the bug #957602 as it is from March while this problem only happens with very recent kernel package that has just been added to Ubuntu within the last few days. Also, I do not beleive this question to be a bug report. I hope you will reopen this question or otherwise provide info on how to solve the problem. – ervingsb May 22 '12 at 14:16
