I'm so new to Linux and suddenly found the error message appear on a running server after reboot from console.

Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I did some google and found it usually due to failed kernel update but I've never update or edit the cfg or settings. –  Faifait May 22 '12 at 3:29
