Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

The problem: When clicking "install" on apps in Ubuntu Software Centre, the button greys out but does not progress to asking me for my password. When moving the mouse cursor, the button goes back to being clickable.

I've attempted to resolve the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling Ubuntu Software Centre using Synaptic, but this hasn't worked.

I'm wondering if it could be a problem with the sources it is using? Other than that, I have no idea.

In addition, and it may or may not be related, my wireless adapter on the laptop in question has stopped working. It worked "out of the box" for a long while, but now seems to have decided that it doesn't exist. I am using a wired connection, which seems to work fine (I can browse the web through Firefox etc with no problems). I'm wondering if the failure of the wireless adapter could be causing some kind of conflict that is leading to USC not being able to download and install apps?

Any help would be much appreciated.
