I have Openfire installed on a local network and am trying to connect to it with empathy with the username/password created and empathy keeping raising authentication failed error. Using pidgin, am able to connect without any trouble. What could be wrong please?

I use Openfire server at work and I connect to it via Empathy all the time. Have you checked the Openfire logs as it might give you more information about what it sees when you try and connect via Empathy? – ruffEdgz May 19 '12 at 2:28
Solved now. problem was with the xmpp.domain. It was set to 127.0.0.1 instead of FQDN. – Omadegbo May 20 '12 at 19:53
