I like to run Ubuntu in a virtial machine with VMWare. However, everytime I try to use the Alt Gr-Key for characters like [ ] or { }, Ubuntu behaves strange.

Any idea how I can fix this?

example: you are in vi and try to insert those characters. Typing them will excape you out of insert mode without inserting those characters. – Ralf May 17 '12 at 13:51
