I have troubles with using the fn keys, in fact screen brightness keys don't work at all. In addition, every time I restart my computer my screen returns to its low state of brightness. how can I activate the function keys, and how to save the previously set screen brightness.

details: I'm using Hp G62 with Ubuntu 12.04. I had faced the same problem with Ubuntu 11.10.furthermore, some keys -like the wireless key- function properly. thanks in advance.
