I have finally gotten my webcam (philips spc 300nc) working in Skype, and i thought i was all set. But the resolution is to low (176x144) so it zoomz in on the side of my face.

I downloaded guvcview and set the resolution to 352x288 and it showed perfectly, until i tried to start the webcam in Skype, beacause there it stil was in 176x144. I cant really figure out why. I preload skype with v4l2convert.so and the webcam works great in both Cheese, and guvcview.

My webcam doesn't support 640 X 480 so i tried to type 352 X 288 instead. Nothing changed, not even when i tried 640 X 480. In the <video>....</video> thing there was one option before i edited it: <AutoSend>1</AutoSend> When i inserted <CaptureHeight>480</CaptureHeight> <CaptureWidth>640</CaptureWidth> Over it, i started and closed Skype. Then the <AutoSend>1</AutoSend> thing was at the top again. So it doesn't seem like Skype recognise the lines i added :( –  Felix Elnan May 8 '12 at 15:10

Whilst this may theoretically answer the question, it would be preferable to include the essential parts of the answer here, and provide the link for reference. –  Mahesh Aug 11 '12 at 10:16
