I am new to Linux, I upgraded with from 11.10 to 12.04 and now my wifi doesn't work. When the wifi switch is turned on, the bluetooth works but not the wifi. I have a Dell XPS 15 L502x

I resolved this issue by hooking up to a hard line (ethernet cable). Linux was able to update the appropriate Wifi drivers, and then Wifi worked just fine on its own. |

Alex's solution (above) is probably the simplest fix; it's what I've always done, too. However, this time I tried something different: 1) go to SourceForge and download ndiswrapper-1.58rc1.tar.gz (this is the beta version) 2) untar it (it doesn't seem to matter where; I did it in my home directory): 3) go into the ndiswrapper-1.58rc1 directory it creates. There you'll find an INSTALL text file. Do everything it says and you should be running in fifteen minutes or less! I had tried ndiswrapper-1.57, but it doesn't seem to work with 12.04. However, 1.58 does: it's how I'm sending this reply right now! Hope this helps :) |
