Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I recently updated my mythbuntu install to 12.04 and now there is no sound in Chrome or Firefox.

  • I do have sound in MythTV, VLC, and XBMC

  • There is no sound when trying to play Flash videos as well as HTML5 compatible videos

Anyone else seeing a similar issue? Or just have a few steps I could try?

  • I have tried to re-install Chrome - did not fix it

You could go to your home folder, view hidden files (control+h) and delete the .pulse folder. Reboot and see if that works.
