How to make a server turn on when it gets mains power? AKA I have an electricity timer and when it turns on, I want the server to turn on. My bios doesn't support the wake up function.

My understanding is that this is a function supplied by the BIOS. If it's not there then I don't think it can be done. But I suggest you edit your question and add either your motherboard info or the PC manufacturer & model. You might also search/ask over on Super User. This sort of question is really a better fit to that exchange. – irrational John May 2 '12 at 7:20
irrational John is right - this has to be provided by the BIOS. Usually there is an option what to do when power comes back (ON/OFF/last state). – sulaweyo May 2 '12 at 7:40

This definitely is a BIOS issue - as such it is off topic for Ask Ubuntu. – Takkat May 2 '12 at 8:09
