I have A4 Tech webcam/microphone which I used without main problems with 11.10.Now I have problems, the sound part works alright, I have checked with a call to Skype. Cheese and other webcam programs work with my webcam and I have done what is proposed in the related posts about skype and webcam (*Exec=bash -c 'LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype'*) but, Skype does not see my webcam no matter what I do.

Does it work on other programs like Cheese? It doesn't for me. – Ross McLean May 9 '12 at 0:02
