I was using Empathy earlier, however it crashed. When I tried to start it up again, I received an error about not being able to connect to the account manager.

The terminal posts the following output:

I have the same problem. The address book it tries to open is one from my old computer (i restored my home directory). And now i dont know how to remove it, there is just no way – dmeu May 5 '12 at 7:36
I found a bug report from it and flagged myself as having the issue: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/992619 Which was transfered to the empathy dev team: bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=675324 – blackn1ght May 5 '12 at 20:12
If you can't wait for the bug to be fixed, I'd suggest trying to reinstall empathy and telepathy. It looks like telepathy may not be starting up when empathy starts (and it needs to). You can confirm this with ps aux | grep telepathy after starting empathy and checking to see if it is running. Telepathy does a lot of the heavy lifting. – John S Gruber May 19 '12 at 2:03
